About Social Blob

The story behind the blob.

Social energy is real. Some people leave a party recharged. Others leave running on fumes. A social battery is simply how much you have left, and for a long time I had no good way to talk about mine.

"I'm tired" never quite landed. I wasn't sleepy, and I didn't need advice or a nap. I needed a way to say I'm running low, it's nothing personal, I just need to recharge without writing a whole paragraph about it every single time.

So I drew a blob.

When your battery is full, it bounces around, full of life. As the day drains it, the blob slumps, slides off its chair, and eventually melts into a puddle on the floor. You set the level with a slider; the blob does the explaining. "I'm at 15%" with a picture attached says everything a long text doesn't.

What it isn't

There are no goals here. No streaks, no targets, no tips for recharging better. Social Blob won't tell you what to do about being at 12% on a Tuesday. It'll just quietly confirm that yes, 12% on a Tuesday is a real thing that's happening to you, and that's allowed.

If you like, you can save how you're feeling and watch your own patterns emerge over time. But that part's optional. Mostly it's just you, a slider, and a very relatable blob.

Who made it

Just me. I'm a product designer, and Social Blob is a one-person project: I designed it, drew every blob by hand, built it, and I'm the one reading these emails. I made it because I feel it too, and I wanted a kinder way to notice it.
